The Hawai’i Police Department has charged 35-year-old Curtis Hodges with second-degree murder in connection to an early Friday morning murder that occurred in downtown Hilo.

HPD found the body of a female woman just after midnight Friday. The identity of the woman has been determined through fingerprints but has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Hodges, who was located at a Hilo hostel Friday around 11 a.m., is being held at the Hilo Police Station on $500,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.

Police say Hodges may face additional charges pending forensic laboratory testing.
