Kurtistown Man Wanted in Armed Burglary

A 50-year-old Kurtistown man wanted in connection to an armed burglary is being sought after by the Hawai’i Police Department.

The man, identified as William Chase, reportedly went to a home on Uau Road in Kurtistown and brandished a firearm at a 19-year-old male acquaintance after he opened the door.

Chase allegedly forced his way into the hose and threatened a 44-year-old woman, a teenage boy, and a teenage girl with the weapon before leaving in a gray Toyota pickup truck.

Police describe Chase as 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds. He has short gray hair and possibly a mustache and beard.

HPD warns that Chase is considered armed and dangerous. Members of the public should not approach him.

Anyone with information regarding Chase’s whereabouts should call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Todd Pataray directly at 961-2382 or e-mail todd.pataray@hawaiicounty.gov.
