Effective immediately, the United States Army Corps of Engineers’ Laupahoehoe Harbor Breakwall Repairs project will cause the closure of the access driveway to the Laupahoehoe Small Boat Harbor.

The project is scheduled to be completed by February 2016, with access to the driveway unavailable throughout the duration. Department of Parks and Recreation officials say the timeline of the project could be extended pending ocean conditions that allow for the work to be completed.

Access to the harbor and construction site will be restricted by physical barriers put up by the American Marine Corporation. In addition, pedestrian access will be limited to times when construction operations permit. During those times, portions of the harbor away from the active construction area will be opened.

Individuals interested in visiting the area should observe posted signs and be aware that ocean access through the boat ramp for swimming is not allowed.
