Kawamoto Swim Stadium Closed for Repairs

An unexpected mechanical malfunction has closed the Charles “Sparky” Kawamoto Swim Stadium in Hilo.

The County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation says the pool will remained closed as repairs are completed until further notice.

During the closure, P&R has modified the hours at the Hilo NAS Swimming Pool to allow for public recreational and lap swimming.

NAS Swimming Pool’s adjusted schedule for public recreational and lap swimming can be found below:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Weekday evenings: 5:30 a.m. to 7:10 p.m.

Tuesday: 6 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Weekends: 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. (recreation swimming), 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lap swimming)
