Hawaiian Airlines Flight Returned to Kona

Hawaiian Airlines flight 207, headed to Honolulu from Kona, was forced to turn around and head back to the Kona International Airport on Thursday morning.

Federal Aviation Administration Public Affairs Manager for the Pacific Division Ian Gregor confirmed with Big Island Now that a Boeing 717 aircraft landed without incident at the Kona airport.

Hawaiian Airlines spokeswoman Allison Croyle said the flight departed from Kona for Honolulu at 10:43 a.m. During the flight ,the captain “elected” to turn back to the departure airport after an issue with a hydraulic system was noticed. The flight landed at 11:39 a.m.

“Operations were temporarily suspended as the aircraft was towed to the gate,” according to Croyle.

A total of 97 customers were accommodated onto other flight. There were five crew members aboard.
