Stronger Trade Winds are Expected Today

A Wind Advisory is posted for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa through 6:00 a.m. Tuesday. Southwest winds from 30 to 50 mph are expected with gusts up to 65 mph.

Today
We expect high temperatures from 82° to 87°. Trade winds are expected from 15 to 20 mph. Some haze is forecasted for the Kona/south side in the afternoon. Partly sunny skies are in the forecast for windward and mauka areas with scattered showers. Mostly clear leeward with mostly cloudy skies expected in the afternoon and isolated showers.

Tonight
Partly cloudy skies are expected tonight with scattered showers for windward areas. Leeward areas could get a few evening showers, then clearing is expected through the night as the land breeze takes hold. Trade winds are forecasted from 15 to 20 mph. Low temperatures from 71° to 76° are expected.
Looking Ahead
Stronger trade winds are expected starting today and continuing through the rest of the week. The stronger trade winds should keep showers focused over windward areas except for afternoon showers over the Kona slopes.
