Local Local Mail & Ship Makes Grand Entrance
Kea’au’s Local Local Mail & Ship, a one of a kind, local, one-stop all-things-mail store, is preparing for its grand opening on June 6.
Previously known as Mail & Ship, etc., the business underwent a change in ownership and relocated over the past six months.
“We are helping residents receive mail more easily when the USPS has long waits for boxes,” Sandra Haskell, the location’s Customer Service Manager, explained to Big Island Now. “We differ from a regular post office in that we also provide many office services.”
The store is located in the shopping center across from the Kea’au Public Library and employs five staff members. Among the many mail and office services the store features are private mail box rentals, packing and shipping, notary, tax preparation, key duplication, printing, copying, internet access, fax, shredding services, DIRECTV, and EXEDE Internet.
In addition to the quicker wait for a post office box, Haskell says the store is the last stop in Puna before FedEx and UPS heading back to the Hilo Airport.
June’s grand opening event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include free hot dogs and refreshments to those visiting the location. A raffle is also planned and one winner will win a free mail box rental for a year.
“Why should we have to drive all the way to Hilo for basic services?” Local Local Mail & Ship General Manager Ryan Lee said. “We are trying to conveniently provide the necessary services to Puna residents and businesses.”
