Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park’s Keiki o Hawai’i Nei summer program is now accepting applications for children 13 years and older.

During the summer program, which begins on Wednesday, June 24 and lasts through Friday, June 26, participants will “Find Your Park” and be inspired to get excited about discovery. The program lasts from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and aims to connect participants with the park and inspire their appreciation of what is uniquely Hawaiian by exploring the natural and cultural heritage of Hawai’i.

Interested children are required to carry their own day pack with water, snacks, lunch, and raingear. In addition, they must have the ability to hike up to three miles over uneven terrain at a leisurely pace.

The three-day program will explore HVNP and parks on the west side of the Big Island. Transportation is provided and there is no cost to enroll.
