Big Island gas prices have continued to rise over the last few weeks.  According to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report on May 15, the current average cost of a gallon of regular gasoline in Hilo is $3.21.  This marks a five cent increase from yesterday’s average of $3.16.  One week ago, AAA reported the average cost at $3.18, and one month ago, $3.11.

Despite the steady crawl, prices are still far from last year’s average of $4.20 per gallon for regular gas as measured in Hilo.

The statewide average is slightly higher at $3.23 per gallon, remaining about the same from last week.  However, the price has increased about $0.14 since last month.
