Konawaena, KS-Hawai’i Compete in State Water Polo Tourney
Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion Kamehameha-Hawai’i received the fourth seed in this week’s Stanford Carr Development/Hawai’i High School Athletic Association Girls Water Polo Championships, held at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on the campus of the University of Hawai’i at Manoa.
Kamehameha-Hawai’i finished the regular season with an 11-1 record. The Warriors received an opening-round bye and will hit the pool on Thursday against the winner of Wednesday’s match between Kapolei and Leilehua.
BIIF runner-up Konawaena will take on Kalani in the opening round of the tournament. The Wildcats went 7-5 during the regular season.
Seven-time defending champion Punahou received the top seed in the 12-team tournament. Oahu Interscholastic Association champion Kahuku, last year’s third place team, received the second seed, and Maui Interscholastic League winner Lahainaluna was seeded third.
The championship match will be held Saturday night at 6 p.m.
