Turtle biologist Rachel Silverman of Kahalu’u Bay Education Center will “talk story” about honu, Hawaiian green sea turtles, at the center’s next Turtle Talk event on Thursday, May 14.

During the talk, attendees will learn about different types of turtles that can be found in Hawai’i, their importance to the ecosystem, the threats they face, and how individuals can do their part in protecting them.

Turtle Talk is a monthly event held by the Kahalu’u Bay Education Center and sponsored by KBEC, a partnership between The Kohala Center and the County of Hawai’i.

A $10 donation is requested. The money goes to support education and conservation programs at Kahalu’u Bay. Attendees each receive a free informational turtle card.
