Police Seek Help in HPP Arson Case

The Hawai‘i Police Department is seeking the public’s help in gathering information about a January fire in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision of Kea‘au.

Police and firefighters responded to a report of smoke and flames at 4:30 a.m. on January 29 at a house under construction on the 25th Avenue between Kaloli Drive and Paradise Drive.

The flames were put out and damage to the walls and interior area were estimated at $25,000.

The fire is currently under investigation, and being treated as a first-degree arson.

Anyone with information about the incident, or about any suspicious vehicles or persons in the area at the time of the fire are asked to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311, or Detective Joel Field at 961-2831 or joel.field@hawaiicounty.gov.

Those who wish to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300.  All information will be kept confidential, and tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
