Free Concert Event Honoring Kamehameha III at Keauhou Bay

Kamehemeha Schools is inviting the public to celebrate the 15th annual tribute to King Kamehameha III with three days of festivities.

Kamehameha III, also known as Lani Kauikeaouli, will be celebrated with live music from top performers, a tributary ceremony, and lecture at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay.

The festivities will begin on Friday, Mar. 13 at 5:30 p.m., at the Keauhou Ball Room with a talk by Dr. Kamana Beamer entitled, “Kauikeaouli: A man of vision”.

On Saturday, Mar. 14, the celebration will continue with a free concert on the Sheraton’s Hawai`i lawn with performers John Cruz, Brittni Paiva, Natalie Ai Kamau`u, and Mele`uhane.  Guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot and browse Hawaiian marketplace vendors.  The concert will go from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The event will include a live art exhibition by students of Ke Kula o Ehunuikaimalino and Kanu o ka ‘Āina.  Donations and proceeds will benefit Mele Murals, an art education and cultural preservation program fostering leadership among Hawai`i youth.

On Tuesday, Mar. 17, starting at 10 a.m., the public is invited to join a special tribute ceremony honoring Kamehameha III at the place of his birth, Keauhou Bay.
