Hawaii Forest & Trail offers an exciting new tour beginning at sea level and venturing to the heights of the largest sea volcano in the world.

The adventure begins at the `Imiloa Astronomy Center in Hilo where guests will learn how early Polynesian explorers navigated the Pacific Ocean using the stars.  The tour continues into the modern-day of cutting edge astronomical technology with a roadtrip to the summit of Maunakea.

Take in the incredible views atop the highest point in the Pacific, and pay a visit to one of the summit’s world-class observatories.  Reflect on the ancient practice of charting the stars and its influence on modern day science in molding our understanding of the cosmos.

Guests are advised to be in healthy physical condition to withstand the high altitude and uneven terrain.  The tour is reserved for ages 16 and above.
