HPA ‘Classic Rock’ Ukulele Festival

Hawai’i Preparatory Academy’s 22nd Anuual Ukulele Festival is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m.

The festival, which will be held at the Gates Performing Arts Center on HPA’s campus, will feature the theme “Classic Rock,” including songs and dances from the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s.

Over 120 students from HPA, Kealakehe Intermediate School, and Waikoloa Schools will perform arrangements of some classic favorites from Led Zeppelin, Queen, Santana, Aerosmith, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Eagles, Steppenwolf, Journey, Cream, Van Halen, Joan Jett, and Black Sabbath.

Students will be under the direction of Dagan Bernstein, Barbara Kopra, Georgia Poláková, Gloria Juan, and Lani ‘Opunui.

In the past, HPA Ukulele Festival themes have included One World, One Love, One ‘Uke, The Magic of Motown, The Wonderful World of Disney, The Beatles, Lights! Camera! Action!, and Iz: The Man and His Music.
