Hawaiian Telcom has reported that due to a broken cable, telephone customers from South Waikoloa to Na’alehu, including North and South Kona areas and Ocean View, are experiencing outages.

The outages are affecting residential and business phone systems in addition to cell phone service.

A Time Warner Telcom representative confirmed that a cut Hawaiian Telcom fiber optic cable line is the cause of the disruption.

Emergency service number 911 has also been affected by the outage. Those in need of emergency services normally covered by a 911 call should go directly to the nearest police or fire station.
