Suspect Sought in Hilo Hit-and-Run

The Hawai’i Police Department is searching for the driver of a vehicle resembling a silver or gray Mazda Tribute following an incident that occurred Thursday night.
According to reports, at around 9 p.m. Thursday, a 38-year-old Hilo man was struck by a vehicle as he was walking along Pi’ilani Street in Hilo. The vehicle fled the scene. Police say the vehicle should have noticeable front-end damage.
The unidentified victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center in critical condition.
Anyone with information about the incident or the location of the vehicle or driver is asked to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
