An “active shooter” presentation has been scheduled in Waimea on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Hawaiian Homes Hall.

The Hawai’i Police Department announced the presentation Wednesday and said that the presentation is “designed to prepare individuals on how to increase their survivability should they encounter an active shooter or active violent incident of another type.”

During the presentation police will inform the attendees of other incidents of mass violence, including recent events and the best practices for those caught in a situation of this type. Officers will also talk about their response and how a community can work towards prevention.

Attendees will be provided with additional resources and the presentation will end with a question and answer segment.
