A fire hydrant flow test will be conducted in the Hakalau area on Friday, Feb. 6 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., according to the Department of Water Supply.

The fire hydrant flow test will be conducted along Old Mamalahoa Highway and Hanamalo Loop.

DWS officials warn the public that water may run discolored or turbid in the area for several hours following the test.

Affected areas include Hanamalo Loop and Hawai’i Belt Road, below the Hakalau tanksite on Chin Chuck Road to Hawai’i Belt Road, and between Hakalau Veterans Park and Chin Chuck Road, including any side roads in the area.

Customers are advised to avoid washing laundry during the scheduled time and following hours, as well as to store drinking water for use until water returns to normal.
