The County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation will be closing Hilo’s Charles “Sparky” Kawamoto Swim Stadium on Thursday, Feb. 5 while the treatment of fire ants takes place.
P&R officials say the swimming pool is scheduled to reopen on the following day, Feb. 6, at 9 a.m., and normal swim programs will resume.
Temporary closures are expected to continue on a six week basis to allow follow-up treatments by fire ant control technicians.
