Hoop Dreams Wins HI-PAL ‘Click It or Ticket’ Tournament

Hoop Dreams took the title at the Hawai’i Isle Police Activities League’s “Click It or Ticket” 12-and-under basketball tournament, held at Carvalho Park in Hilo last weekend.

In the championship game, Hoop Dreams defeated Stray-Kats 49-19. Kaukahi Alameda led the way with 14 points. Ki’ai Apele added 12.

Other members of Hoop Dreams include Alameda, Apele, Kilohana Hassenritter, Shesley Martinez, Guyson Ogata, Dominique Pacheco, Keegan Scanlan and Kaupena Yasso.

The Waiākea Titans took third place in the tournament, defeating the Kamehameha Warriors 26-14. Johnacy Mackwelung scored 14 points for the Titans in the contest.

Ten teams and 70 kids participated in the tournament. Other teams included the Andrews Hawks, B-Elite, Kaʻu Champs, Keaʻau Chargers Red, Keaʻau Chargers Black and Rise Above.
