The Pahoa Community Aquatic Center will extend its hours three days a week beginning Wednesday, Jan. 21.

According to the County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation, hours at the facility will be extended on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until 8 p.m. The nighttime hours are to accommodate night swim sessions.

The free open-swim sessions are open to all ages, however, children under the age of 11 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.

Pahoa Community Aquatic Center’s nighttime swim session will be offered on a trial basis. The hours are intended to meet the needs of swimmers who requested extended operating hours, according to officials, but patron interest will be gauged.
