Residents in Kohala that live above Hawi Road are without water service due to power interruptions caused by this weekend’s storm.

According to the Department of Water Supply, affected areas include Beers Road, Maliu Ridge, and Ka’ahuhu Road.

DWS spokeswoman Kanani Aton says that no estimated time for power restoration has been given by Hawai’i Electric Light.

An emergency water spigot is available for affected residents at the Ainakea Senior Housing subdivision, located on Ainakea Drive.

The emergency water situation in Kohala is in addition to a similar situation annoucned last night in Waimea. According to Aton, Mana Road residents in Waimea remain without water service Sunday. Houses in the Pu’unani Subdivision, however, received power at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday and had water service restored at around 11 p.m.

Customers with water concerns are asked to call the DWS 24-hour service line at 961-8790.
