Stacie Kanno will assume the role of State Librarian in an interim role at the beginning of 2015.

Kanno was named by current State Librarian Richard Burns, who is retiring at the end of this year. Burns served in his current role since 2008.

Kanno has overseen the Kapolei and Hawai’i Kai public libraries on Oahu since 2011, along with other tasks. In 2008, she was named the Public Librarian of the Year by the Friends of the Library of Hawai’i.

The Board of Education will keep Kanno on in an interim basis until it selects a permanent State Librarian.
