High surf conditions will cause the overnight closure of Kohanaiki Beach Park on Monday, Dec. 22.

The County of Hawai’i Department of Parks and Recreation announced that the park will be open for day use only and the park gate will be locked nightly at the normal 9 p.m. closing time.

Overnight campers will not be allowed during this time. The beach park will reopen for overnight use once surf conditions allow.

The resumption of normal operating hours will be announced once determined.
