The Small Craft Advisory issued by the National Weather Service has been extended through 6 a.m. Friday for Big Island southeast and leeward waters along with the Alenuihaha channel. Rough seas of 8 to 13 feet are expected.

Windward and mauka areas are forecasted to get occasional morning showers with scattered showers in the afternoon as lingering moisture remnants from a front impact the Big Island. The Kona side is expected to cloud up in the afternoon with isolated showers. Variable winds are forecasted from 5 to 15 mph. The UHSOEST vog model is forecasting afternoon vog mainly for the Kona side and down south. High temperatures should fall in the range of 80° to 85° and around 70° at 5000 feet.

Trade wind weather is expected with winds picking up in speed. Showers will favor windward and mauka spots overnight and leeward areas will clear of clouds as the evening goes on. Winds are forecasted out of the northeast from 10 to 20 mph. Low temperatures are expected in the range of 69° to 74° with a low of about 52° at 5000 feet.

Looking Ahead
Another front is on the way for the weekend spreading light rain across the state from Saturday into Sunday. Gusty northerly winds are expected behind the frontal passage. A Small Craft Advisory will be posted with gale conditions and wind advisories possible. Winds will increase especially where winds funnel, go downslope and over coastal waters and channels. On Monday wind speeds are expected to ease and the weather is forecasted to get back to normal trade wind conditions.
