The Hawai’i Police Department has identified the body found in Waipio Valley on Sunday as 22-year-old Lindsey Nickerson of Kailua-Kona.

On Tuesday, an autopsy determined that Nickerson died of asphyxia due to downing.

The last time Nickerson was seen alive was Saturday afternoon, when she separated from a group of 25 people during a hike in Waipio Valley.
