A 55-year-old Kona man has been charged with second-degree robbery after threatening to blow up a Kona pharmacy if he didn’t receive drugs.

The Hawai’i Police Department says that Phillip W. Hart entered a pharmacy on the corner of Kuakini Highway and Walua Road on Saturday morning and made the threat.

After he was given an undisclosed type of medication, Hart fled the area on foot. He was found at 9 a.m. at a condominium on Walua Road, 25 minutes after police arrived at the scene of the incident.

Hart was taken to the Kona police cellblock on Saturday and has remained there through his initial court appearance on Monday.
