The temporary reopening of the children’s playground equipment at the Pana‘ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens has been canceled due to wet weather.

Work began on the playground Oct. 13 and is set to last until Oct. 24.

The playground was scheduled to temporarily open on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 19. These dates will remain closed as more time is needed before the area is ready for public use.

A synthetic turf safety system is being installed onto the ground surface of the playground. The material is expected to last longer than the original ground covering.

Installation of the upgraded surface is expected to be finished by the original completion date of Friday, Oct. 24.
