Lava Flow Update For Thursday, Sept. 25
The June 27 surface lava flow remains inactive.
According to Hawai’i County Civil Defense’s latest update, the flow front remains approximately 100 yards wide and there was very little activity reported Thursday.
Saturday’s small breakout flow upslope from the leading edge along the north flank continues to move in a northeast direction.
That breakout has advanced approximately 70 yards since Wednesday.
Officials say it does not pose an immediate threat to the area.
HELCO crews are working to install power poles on Government Beach Road. Access will be blocked until the work is finished.
There will be a lava flow community update meeting 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Pahoa High School Cafeteria.
