The Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation has implemented temporary traffic-safety measures at Kailua Park that will be extended through Sunday, Sept. 14.

Vehicular traffic entering Kailua Park is being diverted to the beach access road located at the north end of Kuakini Highway.

This is being done to provide for the safety of park users while the E.K. Fernandez Big Island Fair 2014 and Color Run events are being held at the park.

All motorists are advised to follow the temporary 5 mph speed limit while driving along the park’s beach access road.
