Triathlon to Close Highway 19 in Wainaku and Bayfront Sunday

The Bayfront Highway, along with a portion of Highway 19 in Wainaku, will be closed to traffic Sunday morning for the Hilo Triathlon.
The closure will be in place from 5 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. between Pauahi Street and Wainaku Street.
During that period, Hilo-bound traffic on Highway 19 will be detoured onto Wainaku Street just after Alae Cemetery.
Hamakua-bound motorists on Kamehameha Avenue will be routed up Wailuku Drive and onto Wainaku Street, which they will follow until it reunites with Highway 19 near the cemetery.

More than 200 athletes are expected to take part in the event.
