A Kailua-Kona home was damaged by fire late Saturday morning.
Firefighters responding to an 11:16 a.m. alarm found about a third of the Kealapua Street house on fire, with flames spreading to the rear of the home.
The heat had also ignited nearby vehicles and structures, a fire department statement said.
Arriving firefighters were concerned that the home’s occupants may still be inside, but they were soon located in the care of neighbors.
About half of the multi-story, 3,000-square-foot home was destroyed by the fire.
