Hilo Man Arrested for Theft of Kayaks

Police have arrested an 18-year-old Hilo man for allegedly stealing two kayaks.

The kayaks were reported stolen Friday from a patio of a Komohana Street home.

The stolen watercraft were recovered upon the arrest of Keenan Acia.

Acia has also been charged with an unrelated burglary that took place on May 24.

In that case, a 67-year-old Hilo man reported that a cell phone, digital camera, purse and prescription medications had been removed from his house.

Charges filed against Acia Saturday included two counts of first-degree burglary and three counts of theft.

His bail has been set at $12,750.
