Hilo Man Dead Following Crash Into Embankment

A 30-year-old Hilo man died early Sunday in a one-vehicle crash on the Puainako Extension.
Officers responding to a 4:21 a.m. call learned that Palani B. Cobb-Adams was driving a 1994 Toyota pickup truck west when he crossed the center line and struck a street sign and an embankment.
Cobb-Adams was taken to Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 5:21 a.m.
Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
An autopsy has been ordered.

The crash occurred between the 4- and 5-mile markers on the mauka Hilo roadway.
