Parker School Announces Scholarship Winners

Parker School has announced the recipients of the 9th Grade Richard Smart Scholarships and the middle school Ulu Pono Scholarships for the 2014-2015 school year.

Three new students and one current student were selected for each type of scholarship for which each will receive $8,500 annually toward tuition during their Parker careers.

Both types of scholarships are based on financial need. Ulu Pono winners were also selected for academic promise, strong character and passion for an area of interest. The Richard Smart scholars were picked according to merit and exceptional academic potential.

The 9th Grade Richard Smart Scholars were Pono Blaisdell (currently at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School in Lihue, Kauai), Spencer Corabi (Pa‘auilo Intermediate School), Owen Matsuda (Parker School) and Mathias Migliorini-Marchesi (Waikoloa Middle School).

Middle school Ulu Pono Scholarships went to Emily Fetsch (currently in 7th grade, Waimea Middle Public Charter Conversion school), Benjamin Koai‘a May (5th grade, Kanu o ka ‘Aina New Century Public Charter School), Taiga Okada (5th grade, Waikoloa Elementary School) and Eloise Robertson (5th grade, Parker School).

In other Parker School news, the Waimea Outdoor Circle has awarded the Waimea institution $3,467 to be used for sustainability education.
