UPDATE: HOVE Well Working, Conservation Still Requested
***Updated 2:25 p.m.***
The pump at the well as Hawaiian Ocean View Estates is back in operation, but restrictions will be in place for a while longer.
A Department of Water Supply spokeswoman said the community will continue to be able to obtain water at the public spigots, but is still being asked to reserve water for potable uses until operations are back to normal.
She said commercial water haulers will not be able to access a standpipe at the HOVE facility until Monday.
Monitoring of the pump’s operation will continue through the weekend.

The pump at the county Department of Water Supply’s deep well at Hawaiian Ocean View Estates stopped working Thursday, and the department’s engineers are trying to pinpoint the problem.
DWS spokeswoman Kanani Aton said today that the issue seems to be electrical.
Meanwhile, enough water currently remains in the reservoir for community access, although users are being asked to limit their consumption to potable needs.
Aton said the standpipe used by commercial water haulers is closed until the Ka`u facility’s pump is operational again.
