Flood Advisory Issued for South Kohala

A flash flood advisory has been issued for parts of the South Kohala district on the western side of the Big Island.
Shortly after 2 p.m., radar showed heavy showers near the junction of Saddle Road and Mamalahoa Highway, in the vicinity of Waikoloa Road, the National Weather Service said.
The weather service said rain was falling at a rate of between 1 and 2 inches per hour.
The advisory also included the areas of Puako and the Waikoloa Beach Resort.
The advisory was to be in effect until at least 5:15 p.m.
