Motorists on the southern portion of Ali`i Drive in Kona next week should expect closures of one lane of traffic from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The closures are necessary to install dry wells on Ali`i Drive at the La`aloa Avenue intersection, said a spokeswoman for the county Department of Public Works.

The work is part of the ongoing La`aloa Avenue Extension which will create an additional mauka-makai route between Ali`i Drive and Kuakini Highway.

Also, Isemoto Contracting Co. has extended its work period an additional two hours as work proceeds on installation of a total number of seven dry wells, three of which are completed.

The new work hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. will continue on weekdays except holidays through April 30.

Completion of the ongoing second phase of the project that began in late January is still expected to be completed sometime this summer.
