Weather Forces Schedule Change for UHH Baseball Series at FPU
Fresno Pacific University announced Wednesday that it has moved up the opener of a four-game PacWest Conference baseball series against the University of Hawai`i at Hilo to avoid heavy rain forecast for the area.
The start of the series has been moved up to Thu., Feb. 27 at 4:00 p.m. Pacific time. Instead of playing a doubleheader as originally scheduled, both teams will play just one nine-inning game.
Friday, the original date for the opening doubleheader of the series, is now an off day. On Sat., March 1, the two teams will play a doubleheader, also starting at 4:00 p.m. The first game will be a full nine-inning game, followed by a seven-inning contest.
One more nine-inning contest will wrap up the series on Sun., March 2 at 2:00 p.m. All games will be played at the FPU Diamond in Fresno, CA.
UH-Hilo will take a 1-3 record into Thursday’s PacWest opener against the Sunbirds. The Vulcans lost a season opening four-game series at Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho.
Fresno Pacific enters the series with a 6-7 overall record. The Sunbirds took just one game in their opening four-game conference series against Hawai`i Pacific University.
