The Kohala Center will hold another High School Agricultural Internship Program next month.

The spring 2014 program runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day during the week of March 17-21.

The program will be based at the center’s Ka Hua `Aina farm in Honoka`a.

Deadline for submitting applications is Friday, Feb. 28.

The program is designed to give interns hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture and information about island food systems. They will visit and work on farms and earn a stipend for the farm work.

Participants will also take field trips to processors and wholesalers and meet agricultural leaders, the center said in a press release.

Applications are available at kohalacenter.org/farmertraining/interns.html. For additional information, contact Derrick Kiyabu at 808-220-2312 or dkiyabu@kohalacenter.org.

The program is sponsored by The Kohala Center and Kamehameha Schools’ ‘Aina Ulu Program.
