Konawaena Grad Yamaguchi Named to Preseason All-WCC Baseball List
A breakout sophomore season has made Konawaena High School graduate Kolten Yamaguchi a player to watch in the West Coast Conference this baseball season.
Yamaguchi, a first-team All-WCC selection last season at Pepperdine, was named to the Preseason All-WCC team Wednesday prior to the upcoming 2014 season.
The Waves’ catcher led his team last season with a .309 batting average. He also connected for four home runs, six doubles, and 18 runs batted in. On the basepaths, he stole four bases while throwing out six base stealers.
Yamaguchi joins teammates Austin Davidson and Aaron Brown on the All-WCC preseason list. The Waves received one first place vote and are projected by the conference’s coaches to finish second behind the University of San Diego.
