Police this afternoon arrested a 61-year-old homeless man in connection with the robbery of Central Pacific Bank about a half-hour earlier.

Officers responding to the Kilauea Avenue bank in response to a 1:42 p.m. call were told that a man had handed a teller a note and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At 2:05 p.m., police located a suspect in the case, Lelome Kahaualoa Rogers, on Aupuni Street and arrested him.

Rogers was being held at the Hilo cellblock without charges while detectives continued the investigation.

Police asked that anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Det. Joel Field at 961-2381 or jfield@co.hawaii.hi.us.
