Police have not yet released the name of the bicyclist who died Saturday morning after being struck by a truck on Route 19 just north of Pukihae Street.

Fire rescue personnel responding to an 8:47 a.m. call found the bicyclist on the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A department spokesman said the man on the bicycle had been struck by a semi-tractor trailer.

The highway was closed for several hours from Waianuenue Avenue to Hau Street, with traffic being detoured onto Wainaku Street.
