A 22-year-old Hilo man has been charged with burglary and two counts of theft in connection with several property crimes in the Panaewa House and Farm Lots area of Hilo.

Police said Kody Ono was arrested Monday for the theft of a cellular phone taken during a burglary Dec. 5 on Makalika Street.

Officers later determined that Ono had allegedly sold several pieces of silverware taken from an Awapuhi Street home on Dec. 8. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at $455.

Ono was charged with the crimes on Tuesday. His bail was initially set at $36,000.
