Witnesses Sought to Crash Sunday Near Honomu

Police are asking for the public’s help locating witnesses to a traffic collision Sunday near Honomu that resulted in serious injuries to four people.

The crash occurred at 9:53 a.m. on Route 19 near the Akaka Falls Road intersection.

It involved a head-on collision between a Hilo-bound Pontiac Vibe and a Hamakua-bound Toyota Camry.

The 20-year-old Honomu woman driving the Pontiac was taken to Hilo Medical Center, as were all three occupants of the Toyota. That included the 67-year-old female driver and her two passengers, a 69-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman, all of whom reside in Hilo.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Officer Gabriel Wilson at 961-2213 or the police department’s non-emergency number at 935-3311.
