Keiki Dip-N-Dash Highlights Tuesday’s IRONMAN Events

The build to Saturday’s GoPro IRONMAN World Championship continues with a pair of events Tuesday, highlighted by a fun event for kids of all ages.

The IRONKIDS Keiki Dip-N-Dash will kick off the day’s festivities at 4:00 p.m. at Kailua Pier. Children of all ages are invited to compete in the short biathlon, which starts with the swimming portion. Participants have a choice of swimming the short course, which is about 50 yards in length, or the longer course, which is three times the shorter distance.

Following the swim, the youngsters will embark on a a short run. Those taking the shorter course will run a short quarter-mile distance, starting at the pier, while the longer course participants will run to Hale Halawai and back, a distance of approximately .9 miles.

All participants will receive a medal courtesy of Ashworth Awards. Bike Works will provide post-race refreshments and snacks.

At 5:00 p.m., the Dip-N-Dash participants will lead the annual IRONMAN Parade of Nations, kicking off at Kailua Pier. The parade wraps up at Hale Halawai, which also serves as the home to the IRONMAN Village Expo and Souvenir Retail, running through Friday.

Tuesday’s IRONMAN events

9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Athlete registration and check-in, Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel (ballrooms 2, 3, and 4)
