Fire department inspectors are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in the Eden Roc Estates subdivision in upper Puna around midnight Friday.
Firefighters from the Keaau Fire Station arriving at the home on Kopaa Street at 12:03 a.m. found the single-story home engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby brush, a spokesman said.
Damage to the home, described as a 20-foot by 40-foot structure sandwiched between two 40-foot metal shipping containers used as living quarters, was estimated at $120,000.
No injuries were reported.
