UH-Hilo’s Trevino-Scott Receives PacWest VB Freshman Award

University of Hawai`i at Hilo freshman outside hitter Kyndra Trevino-Scott was named PacWest Women’s Volleyball Freshman of the Week for the opening week of the season.

The conference announced the award this morning prior to tonight’s match between the Vulcans and Fort Hays State University.

Trevino-Scott has tallied at least 10 kills in each of her last three matches. She picked up 10 Saturday in UH-Hilo’s 3-1 victory over East Central University. The Bella Vista High School graduate’s season high in kills is 20, set last week Thursday in UHH’s five-set comeback victory over East Central.

The freshman from Penryn, CA averages 3.27 kills per set so far this season, ranking second on the team behind fellow freshman Marley Strand-Nicolaisen. She leads the team with 18 total blocks and 1.20 blocks per set.
