UPDATE: Police Arrest Father and Son After Officer Assaulted

Hawai`i Police Department officials are asking for the public’s help locating a Hawaiian Beaches man wanted for multiple offenses that occurred Saturday night, Aug. 10, in Hawaiian Beaches, Pahoa.

Christopher Gonsalves, 48, of Hawaiian Beaches is being sought by authorities for domestic abuse, terroristic threatening, and assaulting a police officer.

Gonsalves reportedly assaulted the officer after police responded to a dispute at a Hawaiian Beaches park. After the assault, Gonsalves fled the area.

UPDATE:

Police located Gonsalves at approximately 5:40 p.m. this afternoon off of Ono Street in Hawaiian Beaches. The suspect was found hiding in a brush-covered area, and was arrested and transported to the Hilo police cellblock, where he will remain pending investigation.

Minutes earlier in the same area, police arrested his son, Chrisopher Gonsalves (identical name as father), 27, for two outstanding warrants, and in connection with a burglary at an apartment complex in Hilo.
